Festive Styling with Bundt Cakes

They look straight out of a fairytale, but I can assure you these lovely bundt cakes are very real and were sitting on my table!

I wanted to show you that even cakes can be used to decorate your Christmas table, and flowers aren’t always needed. I let the experts bake these masterpieces - The Great Catering Company, who are a fantastic New Zealand-based catering company we have used since 2014. They graciously fulfilled my request for these gorgeous cakes and the delightful cupcakes for my place settings, and will be catering our multiple events this year. I purchased the individual tins for these cakes from Williams Sonoma, who have quite a selection.

For the uninitiated, bundt cakes are generations-old Eastern European cakes, cooked in intricately shaped tins. A random fact, but more than 70 million households have a Bundt tin!

Despite the details in this table setting, it is actually quite easy to do with white tiered cake stands and strategically placed strands of sugared greenery. Everything else is in brown and green hues, from the glass decorations to the candy canes. Bundt cakes are often a gingerbread flavour or even citrus or banana, and there are a lot of straightforward recipes that you can refer to online such as this one.

Can you imagine the wonder on childrens faces seeing this beautiful table at Christmas? You can bet some of these cakes wouldn’t last until lunch!

With love,

Sandra xx
