Gorgeous Little Pinecones
I’ve had these delightful little pinecones for a few years. Whenever I find or forage such items that may be useful, I’ll pop them away in my treasure trove of craft-related objects and wait for the perfect opportunity to use them.
There are two ways I use pinecones - as delightful glittered pinecone decorations, and table setting place-card holders. Creating your own is very easy.
Here’s what you will need:
Miniature pinecones, anything between 5-8cm in height is ideal
Glitter
PVA glue, and a small brush to apply the glue
For the pinecone decorations: Small circular picture hooks, and string/ribbon of your choice
For the place-card holders: Small circular metal keyrings (available from your local hardware store); place-cards.
Pinecone decorations:
Using a small brush, apply a little PVA glue to the pinecone scales.
Gently sprinkle the glitter onto the pinecone (make sure you do this before the glue dries!) If necessary, shake off any excess glitter. Pop the pinecones aside and allow the glue/glitter to dry.
Using a little force push the hook into the base of the pinecone, then gently screw it in.
Attach string/ribbon to the hook. Your decorations are now ready to hang!
Place-card holders:
Follow steps (1) and (2) above.
So that your pinecones will ‘stand on end’, if necessary gently shave a little wood off the base of the cone - I choose not to do this, as I love the way the pinecones naturally fall and sit on the table.
Prepare your place-cards with your guest’s name, and any other decorative element, prior to attaching to the pinecone.
Attach the keyring onto the scales towards the top end of the pinecone, and gently insert the place-card into the keyring.
