Gorgeous Rose Garden
Summer, Celebrations and the makings of Christmas seem to have a matching perfume to me; the heady aroma of peony and garden rose blending together and heralding in the start of the festive season (in my household at least.)
I have quite a large collection of different roses growing in the garden now and the Auckland Spring/Summer provides the perfect grounds for these fragrant blooms to fully express their beautiful perfume (The assortment of shapes, colours and scents all blending together in a melange of beauty that is quite captivating.
Peony season is short in NZ, so I have been well and truly making the most them! I love their voluminous blooms and fresh, floral notes - they seem particularly at home alongside roses and Queen Anne’s lace - a trio of floral friends that seem to enjoy life together. My favourite colour combinations of deep pinks, magentas and reds were perfectly complemented by Bramble and Hedge nougat and a glass of cool, rose champagne! I also loved pairing the french vanilla cream coloured blooms you can see in the images below with feverfew for a more romantic and dreamy feel.
