My 2020 Family Christmas

My family Christmas’s are always big on the beautiful, and the day is all about delicious food and family. This year two of our friends also joined us - an extra treat.

Table styling was centred around red tartan of course, and I included elements I had purchased throughout the year, including tartan scarves, charger plates, wrapping paper, ribbons, bags, and crackers. Each tartan was a little different, but I found the slight variations worked well together. I interspersed these with a red tablecloth, glasses, wrapping, ribbons, tissue paper and candles. Flowers were classic red and white roses, pansies, and dahlias.

If you’re wondering what was on the menu, I served four courses:

  • Fennel, orange, and pomegranate salad

  • Smoked salmon with dill cream on a potato base

  • Eye fillet beef with a garlic crust, basil roasted chicken with garlic sauce, red onion gratin, orange glazed carrots, roasted beets, and crispy roasted rosemary potatoes

  • Butterscotch pudding, chocolate mousse, champagne berry jelly, meringues with clotted cream and blackberries, Christmas pudding and custard. I will share a few more of these recipes in the coming months

When our meal was over, we played a game on the lawn and then flopped into our chairs for the rest of the evening. Heaven x
