Searching for something easy to make yet delicious, with the right buttery crunch and the sweetness of your favourite fruit? Look no further than crumble. This recipe is my failsafe, and I make it regularly for my family. Once you have all the ingredients on hand, it takes only a matter of minutes to prepare.

My Grain-Free Crumble Recipe

I normally make this crumble recipe using four individual Le Creuset ramekins. They equal to about the size of a medium ceramic dish. If you’re using something larger or smaller, you might want to adjust the measurements to suit.

For four smallish ramekins you’ll need 1 x Tbsp each of the following:

  • Coconut chips

  • Coconut strands

  • Fine coconut (dissected)

  • Flaked almonds

  • Almond meal

  • Arrowroot flour

Then:

  • 1/2 a teaspoon of vanilla extract

  • Approx. 50 grams unsalted butter

  • Approx. 1 Tbsp maple syrup

  • Approx. 2 cups fruit of your choice, maybe more. I often use berries.

In one bowl, mix the dry ingredients together. In another, warm the butter until soft, and mix with the maple syrup and vanilla. Pour the dry ingredients into butter mixture and mix together until a crumble-type consistency forms.

Place your crumble in the oven at 150c for 15 minutes. Take a look, and you should see the top browning nicely. If not, leave your crumble in the oven for another 10 minutes. Feel free to serve with whipped cream or ice-cream for an additional treat.

Enjoy xx
