The Magic of Refilled Candles

One thing I enjoy creating all year round, but especially at Christmas time, is refilled candles. During the Christmas season there is no such thing as too many candles!

I love to gather a range of eclectic glass vessels, and am always on the lookout for beautiful jars that can be repurposed. This is an economical way to design your own candles and also a great deal of fun in the process. If you don’t have time to fill the jars yourself, search out a local candlemaker as they sometimes offer a refill service. I have found that scents are tricky to get right, so I always select an unscented wax. We have a refilling service here in Auckland and it’s very affordable.

The images here are all recent shots of refilled candles using different glass jars.

I’m a huge fan of the beautiful range of products by French candlemaker Trudon. The vessels in which their candles are presented are exquisite, I always up-cycle these jars and have them refilled.

Once your candles are ready to display don’t forget to add delicate foliage for decorative purposes, complementing your Christmas theme. A little tip - when your glass vessel has approximately ¼ inch of wax remaining, this is the best time to stop burning your candle, to avoid the vessel cracking.

Have fun creating a touch of Christmas magic with your own range of candles!

With love,
