Winter Candlelight

Winter has arrived here in New Zealand, and finally I am able to double (if not triple) my use of candlelight within our home.

The gold light of autumn has succumbed to the blue rays of winter. This is a wonderful opportunity to light your home with a selection of candles and accompany them with some easily adopted styling ideas. For this shoot I enjoyed utilising some of nature’s many items which I have collected on my autumn walks. The array of red and bronze leaves add such warmth and depth to these images, the colours transition beautifully to my tartan throw from The Fife Arms, and through to my Bordallo dinnerware.

It is not necessary to introduce too much fuss when using these natural tones. The colours sing for themselves and encourage us to enjoy the season of winter and all its natural beauty.

For the candlelight, I used a variety of my favourite Broste candles, along with the gorgeous Mason Cash ramekins that I purchased with the intention of turning them into candles - they look fabulous en masse or sitting at each place setting.

I hope you have fun creating a little winter magic within your own home. Enjoy the ambience of the season and all it offers.

With love,
